HPS CONNECTIONS ADVICE AND SUPPORT

HPS Connections Advice and Support can help you if you are worried that you and your family are at risk of becoming homeless and if you live in South and East Edinburgh.

People can often feel lonely and isolated within their community and this can lead to poorer health and well-being.

If you feel this is you, HPS Connections
can support you to:

• Explore the kind of life you would like to lead and develop meaningful activities to enable you to lead that life
• Manage your mental health and physical health
• Find out what is going on in your community
• Access local groups, services and activities
• Develop a support network that will be there for you at times of need
• Keep your home or explore housing options if you want to move

We do this by:

Connecting

It can be hard to know what groups, activities and services are available in your local area. Our connecting team supports people using the HPS Connections service to explore what’s on in their local community, decide what they’d like to take part in and provide support to help this happen. This support can be signposting and/or regular support to build your confidence and enable you to take part independently, with a volunteer or HPS Connections worker.

Telephone Support

Sometimes, regular, short-term telephone support is what people might need and our staff and volunteers would provide you with this.

When and where you can access the support
Support is usually available on a weekly basis for one to two hours. It’s available 7 days a week from 9.00am into the evening and you would choose a time to suit you. The support is varied and provided by either a volunteer or a paid member of the team, depending on your needs and the focus of your support.

We cover the South and East of Edinburgh including Craigentinny, Duddingston, Portobello, Craigmillar, Niddrie, Bingham, Magdalene, Lochend, Restalrig, Moredun, Burdiehouse, Southhouse, Gilmerton, Gracemount, Liberton, Morningside, the Pleasance, Holyrood and Newington.

If you or someone you know would benefit from the service and lives in the areas shown, or if you would like to find out more about the HPS Connections service contact Joanna Lawrence on 0131 255 8508 or by email

We provide the service through the Homeless Prevention Service consortium which is a partnership between five organisations led by Cyrenians and funded by the City of Edinburgh Council.
