Getting Involved

Our 40+ volunteers are what make many of our services possible. They help us with

  • Our volunteer run café
  • The CLEAR peer support programme
  • Buddying new members
  • The ROWAN group
  • The walking group
  • The development groups in Dalkeith and Penicuik
  • Arts, crafts and music groups within the centre

All volunteers receive training and regular supervision to enable them to develop within their role. If you’d like to get involved in volunteering at the Orchard Centre, get in touch!

Members Involvement Group

The Orchard Centre is committed to promoting and encouraging meaningful involvement from members who access their services. The membership involvement group is facilitated by staff, but it is a forum for members.

Members are encouraged to share their views and opinions. They are involved in decisions that influence and enhance service delivery locally and nationally. The group meets every 6 weeks and welcomes new members.

The Orchard Centre is also a student placement provider and is also the base for the development worker for Choose Life Worker. Choose Life is the national strategy and action plan to prevent suicide in Scotland.

There is also a new members group, where new members can get to know staff, volunteers and buddies, and learn about the activities and groups offered.

To get involved or for any more information, please call us on 0131 663 1616 or email us.
