We offer a range of groups, workshops and courses that are based on the five ways to wellbeing. Groups are currently meeting online and in community venues.

Groups are delivered by experienced Support and Development Workers as well as Peer Support Workers who have lived experience of mental health issue. They are open to those who wish to improve their mental health and wellbeing. They provide a safe space to learn more about mental health and to develop new strategies for wellbeing.

Many also support people to use their own experiences to help others and some offer the opportunity to develop a sense of wellbeing through being in nature and conversation.

Groups include photography, outdoor, walking, creative writing, arts and crafts. We also offer groups for men, women, young people and the LGBTQIA community.

Stress Control Classes

This group is delivered by NHS and Health in Mind Staff and will provide tools and information to help you deal with stress.

This is a six session class, each session lasting 90 minutes, with a ten minute break. It
aims to help people understand how stress affects our bodies, thoughts and actions.

Stress Control classes can help you develop skills in managing stress by using the
workbooks provided and practicing the skills learned between classes.

Who Benefits from Stress Control Classes?
  • Anyone from the age of 18 and lives in Midlothian.
  • Anyone with concerns about their wellbeing.
  • Anyone experiencing difficulties with worry, anxiety, panic, depression, poor
    sleep or low self-confidence.
  • Anyone who wishes to manage their feeling of stress and understand its
Impact on their thoughts, feelings and actions.
What Happens When I Attend a Class?

Stress control is not group therapy. You will not be asked to talk about your problems
in front of others. All the seats face the front and the facilitators running the course
will teach you about stress and how to tackle it. Your aim is to pick up the new skills
and practice what you have learned between the sessions.

How will Stress Control Help Me?

You will learn how to control and manage stress in your life. You will discover how to
calm your body and mind, deal with setbacks and take control of your life. Stress
Control will help you discover and build on your existing strengths, so you have skills
to manage your wellbeing in the future.
