Creating a safe and comfortable environment for everyone we work with is at the heart of what we do. 

Our groups and workshops aim to support people to learn more about their wellbeing, offer opportunities for self-reflection and provide space to consider new possibilities for the future. Our selection of groups and workshops has been developed through consultation with local people and we will continue to listen to your ideas for workshops and groups as we grow.

We offer a variety of groups and courses, ranging from single 2-hour long workshops to 12-week long programmes. From information sessions that enhance knowledge to opportunities to share and reflect on personal experiences of mental health, we hope we have a course or group to interest or inspire you.

Feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or anxious?

This comprehensive 6-week mindfulness course offers practical tools and techniques to:

Upbeat!

Come and take part in ‘Upbeat’! Music tutor Mat will be bringing lots of drums to play, building confidence and wellbeing through rhythm. No music experience needed! Also on-hand will be a numeracy educator to help us explore the everyday numbers behind the music. This workshop is guaranteed to be upbeat – it will be a fun and inclusive chance to discover great music and new life skills.

Painting and Poetry Workshop POSTPONED

We will explore painting with acrylics and dabble with poetry as support for wellbeing. Experiment with colour and pattern. Discover individual style and interests.  Considering how using this medium of self-expression can support relaxation and self-awareness. Our exploration theme will be Hope. Participants are encouraged to wear old clothes or an apron as acrylic paints stain and do not wash out.

Powerful Thinking

Our minds tend to prioritize thinking about potential threats. By learning a little about the brain’s negativity bias we empower ourselves with understanding. We can counter balance this tendency to dwell on the negative and help improve our sense of wellbeing by noticing good things. Capturing these in a journal or diary helps us remember and hold on to them even in the presence of difficulties. As a group we will explore different journaling styles.

Taking Notice – social photography for everyone

Come and join our pilot photography program aimed at getting people out and about, noticing what is around them in different environments and enjoying that safe health-in-mind group feeling. This is for everyone of all abilities and interests so all you need is a phone with a camera in it, but feel free to bring a proper camera if you have one. This 8 week program will involve 4 sessions of exploring and taking photos across Galashiels; and the other 4 weeks will involve us meeting for a hot drink to discuss and view the photos from the previous week.

Gentle Walk 

Come and join us for a gentle to moderate walk through the beautiful landscape that is Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott. 

As the birds sing into spring; we will step into it with a gentle curiosity. This group is to encourage and support one another to get some fresh air and enjoy the nature around us. There will be invitations to be mindful and take notice of our senses throughout the walk, these are optional.

Being outdoors has many benefits, and doing it while connecting with others in a safe and supportive environment may just give you another spring in your step.

Well Good Art Sessions – Block 6 (w. Transform Arts) – COURSE FULL

This 6 week landscape painting course with acrylics suitable for complete beginners as well as people with previous experience. The act of studying and portraying landscape can heal and inspire. This will be a fun, non-judgemental space where we can free up creativity and play around with different effects that can be made with acrylics, colour and composition. We will create explorative and experimental studies with the opportunity to then paint a more planned piece on board or canvas. Come along to be creative, and socialise in a safe space.

Dates: Block of 6 Mondays 11, 18 and 25 March (Miss a week for Easter Monday) 8, 15 and 22 April.
Times: 11 am – 2.30 pm with a 30 minute lunch break

Notes: Please bring a packed lunch. Warm drinks and biscuits provided. Get in touch if you would struggle to bring lunch, we can help. Please wear old-ish clothes if you have some in case of getting messy, we will have some aprons for you to use as well. Do get in touch if you would struggle to get here and may need help with transport, we may be able to help you get there.
